I'm a Singaporean author and public speaker, passionate about social issues and Singapore's history and heritage.
My most recent children's book series was Our Amazing Heroes (2025) as well as Our Amazing Pioneers (2023) on Singapore's pioneers. I am probably best known for My Father's Kampung: A History of Aukang and Punggol, a finalist for Best Non-Fiction Title and Top 10 Readers' Choice at the Singapore Book Awards 2021. I have also written books on my family history, Leader and Legislator: Seah Liang Seah and Seah Eu Chin: His Life & Times (which was also translated into Chinese).
My journey as a historical storyteller began with a personal mission to document the life of my ancestor Seah Eu Chin, who arrived in Singapore in 1823. That first effort opened my eyes to many more untold Singapore stories. I wish to help my fellow Singaporeans know where we come from, who we are as a people, and what values define us.
Beyond writing, I am an accomplished public speaker who enjoys bringing history to life through talks at libraries, museums, and cultural institutions. Other than the Singapore Heritage Festival, I have also been a part of cultural and literary festivals like the Baba-Nyonya Literary Festival, the Singapore Writers Festival, the Asian Festival for Children’s Content, and the Singapore Children’s Book Festival.
In recognition of my efforts in historical storytelling, I was awarded the National University of Singapore’s Outstanding Young Alumni Award in 2023.
Beyond my deep and abiding interest in Singapore’s history, I have extensive experience in research; education and engagement; and strategic planning. I currently work by day, write by night, and speak publicly about family history on weekends.
